The best excursion to know Lima and its History
This excursion offers the best combination of the differents attractions in Lima and its three historical periods: pre-Hispanic, colonial and contemporary. In Lima there were several different pre-Columbian cultures dating back thousands of years old. It was part of the Inca Empire until was founded by the Spanish Francisco Pizarro on January 18, 1535 as the capital of the Viceroyalty of New Castilla of the Spanish Empire. During our guided tour we will travel through its ancient history.
ANCESTRAL LIMA. In the Huaca Pucllana archaeological site built in the fourth century AD We will have a panoramic view of this magnificent ceremonial and administrative center considered by the Incas a holy village. We will learn about the life and rituals of its ancient inhabitants and the typical characteristic of pyramid building sacred pre-Hispanic structures on the coast of Peru.
COLONIAL LIMA. The Viceroyalty of Peru was the most important of the Spanish Empire and Lima was its capital. In its historic center highlights the architecture and urban design of that period, old streets with colonial mansions Moorish balconies. Our trip includes the Paseo de la República, Plaza San Martin and Plaza Mayor, with their different buildings: Government Palace, the Archbishop's Palace, the Cathedral and the Municipal Palace. In the historic center visit one of its most beautiful buildings, the Museum of the Central Reserve Bank (*), where the Treasures of Peru are appreciated: a fine selection of gold objects, ceramics and textiles of various pre-Columbian cultures, from their origins to the Incas, which captivate and impress visitors.
We enter the monumental Convento de San Francisco, which is the largest exhibition of religious art in America. The Choir Room and the Monks' Library, the Sacristy, with its collection of Zurbaran and Rivera. Day 02
Cusco
- City Tour
In
the afternoon, city tour of Cusco, visiting the Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral and
the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha.
We
continue out of town to visit the Inca sites of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara
and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman, strategically built on a hill
overlooking Cusco, famous for its enormous carved stones joined with astounding
precision to form the outer walls. Some of them standing over 9m in height and
weighing over 350 tons. Return to Hotel. Accommodation in Cusco.
Day 03
Sacred Valley
Tours: Archaeological complex of Pisac, Craft Market (Pisaq), the archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo and finally Chinchero.
The Sacred Valley or Valley of the Vilcanota, is nestled between the towns of Pisac and Ollantaytambo is beautiful, suggestive and was much appreciated by the Inca, due to its special conditions like the beneficial climate and the generous fertility of its lands. When visiting the villages of Pisac, Yucay, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero they are appreciated. In each pre-Hispanic archaeological centers, which were built by different Incas and used as citadels or resting places. Ideal places to buy handmade goods.
This tour begins with the gathering of the passengers of the hotel and go through an asphalted to the town of Pisac located 32 km road from the city of Cusco.; where you can see and do some shopping at the handicraft market of Pisac, located in the main square, where the typical craftsmanship in ceramics, leather and looms elaborated by the artisans themselves be seen. Also the archaeological complex of Pisac, located in the upper part of the town of Pisac you will visit.
Continuing the tour will pass through the towns of Coya, Lamay, Calca, Yucay, Urubamba, observing beautiful flora and fauna during the route that takes about 45 minutes to reach the town of Urubamba for lunch in a cozy typical restaurant (optional); in the afternoon we continue the journey towards the town of Ollantaytambo, the only inhabited Inca town where we will visit the archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo, after the visit to the archaeological site.

zigzag path to the marvelous Citadel.

THE LINE.
Midpoint between Cuzco-Puno route. It is the highest point is 4335 m, from

PUCARA.
It is the largest and oldest ceremonial center of the Altiplano, before the
Tiahuanaco, characterized by a series of staggered platforms that resemble a
pyramid called Calasaya. You may also see interesting lithographic sculptures,

Andean highland culture are discovered.

Day 07 Uros
Breakfast.
Very
early in the morning (6:40 a.m.) departure by boat from the port of Puno in the
direction of the floating Uros islands. Arrival at the floating islands, 01
hours approx. tour. Reed rafts ride.
Again
we continue a journey on the Lake Maggiore and later arrival to the island of
Taquile on the back of the island (port CHUÑO). Ascent to the village and visit
the craft center where you will find fine handmade crafts. Lunch at noon. In
the afternoon return to Puno Taquile, this time will have to descend 533 stone
steps up to the main port (Chilcano) and 2.50 hours boat ride we reach the city
of Puno. At 17: 00hrs approx. arrival in Puno and transfer to your hotel. Accommodation
